Advisory system on surface protection by thermal spraying
An advisory system for thermal spraying was developed by reference to plasma spraying. Depending on tribological
systems and on surfacing objectives, the system provides recommendations for the choice of appropriate
spraying materials, process variants, spraying torch/powder combinations and coating parameters. The system
is of interest both for commercial sprayers as well as manufacturers of spraying equipment and spraying materials.
These users can also store internal company know how. A special input software was developed to this end.
This makes it possible to extend the SprayWare knowledge base by additional data.
SprayWare covers 13 different coating objectives. These, at the same time, take users into the system. As a rule,
these coating objectives may be met by plasma spraying. Should a user not find a solution for his specific application, he can
freely determine his coating objective.
At present, the data base lists 87 powders of commercially available spraying materials of manufacturers
such as Praxair, GTV, H. C. Starck und UTP. Information about wear and layer properties, chemical composition,
standardisation and spraying processing properties is also provided.
